  • See if Ken has some classes

Schedule Analysis Training

While our schedule analysis training utilizes output from the Schedule Detective Pro, you don’t have to own the product to benefit. Analysis tools do is crunch data and, depending on level of sophistication, apply rules. You do not want to report how many Reds there are or some other such easy observation. You want to use the results to dig further, find which of the metrics is appropriate for your analysis, add in your experience, and come to a conclusion.

Schedule Detective Training

This one day class teaches how to use the Schedule Detective Pro in the morning, and devotes the afternoon to practical experience. Topics that are covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Installing the Schedule Detective Pro
  • Running an analysis of a schedule
  • Determining Schedule Quality as it relates to Schedule Structure
  • Determining Schedule Quality as it relates to measuring performance
  • Determining Schedule Performance
  • DCMA Metrics

Training materials include analysis of the sample data, your own schedules can be substituted.

Advanced Schedule Analysis Techniques

This two day class explores the more advanced techniques for analyzing schedules. In addition to the standard “health check” metrics, this class explores topics that include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting up the analysis, knowing what to measure is as important as knowing how to measure.
  • Triage – Finding the areas to devote your attention to first, second……
  • Determining Schedule Quality as it relates to Schedule Structure
  • Determining Schedule Quality as it relates to measuring performance
  • Determining Schedule Performance
  • Trends – Determining how metrics have changed over time.
  • Weights – Not just “how many” or the longest pole, but the breadth and/or scope of a problem.
  • Prediction – When a problem be fixed, what problems are coming in the future.
  • Change – How has the schedule changed over time, not just point to point, but over the course of the entire project.
  • DCMA Metrics

This class is structured to be customized; the best way to learn is to use your own projects.

Mentoring - Learning by doing.

Have us come to your site for a period of time and initially perform analysis, then mentor your staff in how to analyze schedules. This is a great way to determine skill levels, tool requirements, training requirements, personnel requirements. One of the perfect situations for this is preparing for a review. Prepare, develop processes, train, and implement all at the same time. Add to your Institutional Memory and check some tasks off your review preparation list.
